Columbia hotel employee robbed at gunpoint

An employee of the Sonesta Hotel in the 8800 block of Columbia 100 Parkway was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend, according to Howard County Police.

Police said at approximately 5:14 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 a man entered the hotel, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money.

Police said the employee complied and then the man demanded that the employee open a safe. At that time, a second employee entered the room, unaware a robbery was in progress, police said.

The man took personal property from one of the employees and then walked both victims out the front door of the hotel at gunpoint, police said.

The man then fled in an unknown direction, police said.
