Columbia cab driver robbed at gunpoint

A driver for the Columbia Cab taxi service was robbed and assault at gunpoint this weekend after driving two men from Columbia to Savage, according to Howard County police.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 29,  a cab driver parked in the 7900 block of Jones Street in Savage went to collect the fare from the two passengers when he was struck in the head with a handgun, police said.

The two men, who had been picked up in the 7200 block of Oakland Mills Road, then demanded the driver's cash and cellphone. The driver surrendered the items along with an iPad mini, according to police. The two men then fled, police said.
