The Columbia Association is reporting that this year's BikeAbout was the most popular one to date, according to a post on the organization's blog CA today.
In the blog post, CA reported that the Sept. 15 BikeAbout set a record for riders with a total of 408 participants.
Last year, the annual event, organized by CA's Columbia Archives, had 345 participants.
This year’s 13- mile course took riders on a self-paced tour along pathways and sidewalks to several notable sites in Long Reach, Oakland Mills, Town Center and Wilde Lake.
According to a news release, the course was meant to "highlight the history, art, culture and environmental features found in Columbia while introducing new ways to make the connections between villages."
Notable landmarks featured at this year's BikeAbout included Blandair Park, the Woodlawn Slave Quarters, the Oakland Ridge Industrial Park, Thunder Hill, Jackson Pond, and Symphony Woods.
