Columbia Art Center to host "Empty Bowls" fundraiser Saturday

The Columbia Association Art Center is hosting its fourth ever "Empty Bowls" fundraiser this Saturday to raise money for Howard County residents in need.

“We believe it is important to do our part in giving back to the community in whatever ways we can,” said Liz Henzey, director of the Columbia Art Center, in a news release. “There is something really amazing about artists and community members coming together for a wonderful cause and sharing their talents and creativity to impact change.”

Tickets for the event, which begins at 3 p.m. at the Columbia Art Center located at 6100 Foreland Garth Road, are $20, and proceeds will be donated to FISH of Howard County Inc., an agency that provides food, financial assistance, referral information and other aid to county residents.

Guests will receive their choice of one of 300 handmade bowls crafted by Art Center students and faculty. The event will also feature live music, a studio demonstration, a silent art auction, raffles and light fare.
