Macy's teams with Howard County to show some love for Blandair Park

Howard County will have the opportunity to show its love for Blandair Park this spring, through the Macy's "Heart Your Park" program, county officials announced Friday.

The park, in Oakland Mills, was chosen among 550 parks across the country for the program, which collects money for park improvements, including upkeep of trails, playgrounds and ball fields.

Until March 31, residents shopping at the Macy's at The Mall in Columbia can donate $1 or more to the "Heart Your Park" project at the register, 100 percent of which will be donated to the Blandair Park.

The department store will also match customer donations dollar for dollar, up to $250,000.

The "Heart Your Park" program is part of Macy's "Secret Garden" campaign, a collaboration between the retail chain and the National Recreation and Park Association -- a non-profit committed to preserving and enhancing community parks -- to raise money and awareness for local parks nationwide.
