Local gymnasts performing with AcroArmy on 'America's Got Talent'

Three local gymnasts who trained at a Columbia-based gymnastics studio are members of the group, AcroArmy, scheduled to perform Tuesday evening on the NBC television show, “America’s Got Talent."

Emily Ruppert of Baltimore County, Hannah Silverman of Howard County and Chrissy Antoniades of Carroll County have previously performed together in gymnastics competitions, and were selected in 2014 to the U.S. Senior National Team and the U.S. Senior World Championship Team in acrobatic gymnastics.

AcroArmy is comprised of gymnasts from various parts of the country, and advanced through the talent competition to its semifinal round with high-flying acrobatic performances.  According to USA Gymnastics, the team includes several members of the United States national team.

Ruppert, Antoniades and Silverman have trained at Emilia's Acro Gymnastics and Cheer in Columbia, according to their profiles on the USA Gymnastics website. Ruppert is a 2011 graduate of Seton Keough High School; Antoniades graduated from Century High School in 2014 and Hannah Silverman attends River Hill High School, according to the site.

AcroArmy’s semifinal performance is scheduled to air Tuesday, Sept. 2, at on NBC, and then voting takes place once the show concludes. The group is one of 12 acts performing in Tuesday’s  competition.

The group will find out Wednesday if it advances to the next round.
