West Friendship Elementary PTA Tiger Madness Chairperson Lisa Spitulnik recalls worrying the school might close.
"In the beginning of the year we were focused on the closing, but now we are only looking towards positive things for our great school," Spitulnik said.
She has been working long hours for the first ever Tiger Madness fundraiser set for March 22, 7 to 11 p.m., at Players Bar and Grill in Woodstock.
This big fundraiser is for grownups only. In addition to a lavish buffet and cash bar, a silent auction table with items like Orioles tickets, spa treatments, Disney tickets, timeshare vacations and more, plans include a Wii basketball tournament with parent and teacher participation.
The theme of the event is aligned with basketball and March Madness. All proceeds will benefit the programs of the PTA. Tickets are $35 per person in advance and $40 at the door. The community is more than welcome to join the fun and encouraged to do so. The silent auction items alone add up to a value over $11,000 in goods and services.
Lisa Spitulnik's children, Rylen, a first grade student in Joanne Goggin's class, and Jayden, a fourth grade student in Sarah Schleicher's class, have enjoyed pitching in for the cause as they have observed their busy mom readying for this event. The same goes for co chairperson Leah Wilson, whose children, Nate, a first grade student in Cathy Heubner's class, and Rowan, a fourth grade student in Sarah Schleicher's class, have observed their mom rallying for all the great silent auction prizes with amazement.
Come and join the fun for such a great cause. Player's Bar and Grill is at 10795 Birmingham Way in Woodstock. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.wfestigermadness.weebly.com Questions of any kind may be directed to Lisa Spitulnik at 410-935-9059.
