Fifth District firefighters invite you to a country breakfast [Clarksville]

Come hungry to the Ten Oaks Ballroom from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 17. The Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department will host a country breakfast for the community.

Proceeds from the breakfasts help provide equipment for the volunteers. The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors 55+, $5 for kids 6-12 and free for those age five and under.

The next country breakfast is March 24. Mark your calendar now.

Rashmi Parmar shared her latest adventure. Our own local dentist is now an international lecturer. While in India in January, Dr. Parmar received a Certificate of Appreciation from Ahmedabad Dental College and Hospital from Dr. Mihir Shah, dean of the school, and Dr. Rupal Vaid, vice dean, for being a Guest Lecturer.

Dr. Parmar taught classes about sleep apnea and really enjoyed sharing light on what is a new field for them.

Prayers and Squares invites all quilters and would-be quilters to come to Triadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church on Brighton Dam Road Feb. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. You need not be an expert quilter to participate in this community service project.

Pointers Run Regional Early Childhood Center toddler and preschool programs are now accepting applications for 2013-2014 classes. These classes include children ages 3 and 4 with and without disabilities. Applications available in the school office must be returned by March 15. Kindergarten registration will be held at Dayton Oaks Elementary daily Feb. 25 to March 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will also be evening registration available Monday, Feb. 25, and Thursday, Feb. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m.

You will need to bring your child's birth certificate or passport, proof of residency (deed or lease), utility bill, current immunization records and photo identification. Our family is saddened by the Feb. 1 passing of Carrie Pellerite, Tina Sanford's mother and Jay Sanford's mother-in-law, following a long and valiant fight against lung cancer. Carrie was a surgical nurse at Shady Grove Hospital. The beloved wife, mother and friend will be missed by many.
