Belly up, buddies. The Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department begins a new season of country breakfasts on Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. until noon, in the Ten Oaks Ballroom.
Enjoy pancakes, eggs, bacon, scrapple, sausage, applesauce, breakfast beverages and plenty more. Bring family and friends for a great time of community fellowship while supporting those who volunteer to help keep us safe.
Clarksville is home to many outstanding young musicians. In years past some of our gifted ones have become members of the Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra. Now is the time for our current crop of young musicians to audition for the orchestra. Most participants are 13 to 19 years of age, but younger participants are considered based on talent.
Auditions for the 50th anniversary celebration began on Aug. 23. The next audition is Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville campus in the Performing Arts Building, room Q121.

Rehearsals begin on Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. The first concert is scheduled for Dec. 13.

Last October, the Howard County Beekeepers Association offered its first ever one-day seminar on beekeeping at the Robinson Nature Center. It was a sell out with standing room only.
