It's here. The third Thursday of the month brings Thursday at the Corner to the Clarksville Square shopping center. Roots Market and surrounding shops offer free gift card raffles, live music, special sales and more Aug. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.
On the other side of Route 108, you'll find Invasion playing British rock from 6 to 8 p.m. in the courtyard area of the River Hill shopping center on Friday, Aug. 16. This is the final performance of the free summer concert series. Make the most of the entertainment by dining al fresco. It's a good place to meet and greet friends and neighbors as we say farewell to summer.
The calendar may indicate the end of summer in September, but if there is a student or school staffer in the household, summer is ending in August. River Hill High has mailed a packet of information to parents. If yours has not yet arrived, call the school.
School orientations are already being held and soon it will be time for Back-to-School nights. Be sure to attend. Get to know your child's teachers. Join the PTA. Get involved with your child's education. Your participation will bring great benefits to the school system as well as to you and your child.
What? You don't have a child in the school system? That's okay. You can still volunteer. Just being around young people may help keep you young or at least young at heart.
Roots Market will host Movie Night on Monday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. "Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home" will be shown. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Stop at the Roots Customer Service Desk to register or call 443-535-9321.
