A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing early Saturday in an Ellicott City parking lot, police said.
Howard County Police said they were called at about 2:30 a.m. to the 8300 block of Main Street in Ellicott City where they found 29-year-old Brian Black Jr. suffering from multiple stab wounds
Christopher Thomas Hecker, 23, of Columbia was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder and first- and second-degree assault, police said in a statement.
Black was taken with life-threatening injuries to Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he is in stable condition, police said.
Witnesses said Hecker was with two friends, one of whom may have offered Black a ride, police said.
When Black tried to get into vehicle with Hecker and his friends, Hecker told him to get out, according to police, who do not think the men knew each other.
The two men fought in the parking lot and Black was stabbed. Hecker got into the vehicle with a female friend and drove away, police said.
Witnesses at the scene directed police to the woman's home in Ellicott City, where Hecker was found sitting in the driveway with her shortly after the incident, police said.
Hecker was arrested and police say they recovered a knife that they believe was used to stab Black.
