•Health issues to consider before pregnancy. Learn about parent wellness and health care matters when starting your family, 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 11.
•Breast cancer, but what is it? What are common breast conditions such as fibrocystic disease, fibroadenomas, hyperplasias and what are the options for treatment. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 17.
•Essentials in baby sitting. Create a safe environment and apply basic emergency techniques, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21. Cost $50.
• A beginners eight-week prenatal exercise program will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 24 or Thursdays, Sept. 26 Cost: $88 for the 8 week sessions.
•Smoke free classes. This program provides support and education for those who want to quit as well as for those who have already quit from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 26, Oct. 17 and Nov. 14. Attend one session or all session.
Women's retreat: Linda Mastro, wellness coach, will present a program assessing women's wellness, Sept. 27, 28 and 29. Check in begins at 5 p.m. Friday. Dance classes: Presented by Vantage House, a continuum-of-care retirement community, held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday in the Vantage House auditorium, 5400 Vantage Point Road in Columbia. Dance has shown to improve balance, gait and mood in those with Parkinson's disease. The program is funded by the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area. The county health department's North Laurel Community Health Center, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, offers HIV/AIDS testing services from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by appointment call 410-313-0630. Prostate cancer Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Program is a forum for men to learn about diagnosis and treatment options, management, side effects and quality-of-life issues. The program provides a confidential setting among peers to discuss and share experiences and problems related to prostate cancer. There are occasional guest speakers.
