Walk to Bethlehem
Glen Mar United Methodist Church will hold this annual event at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4701 New Cut Road. Led by guides, visitors will journey through outdoor settings where actors will re-enact the events leading to and immediately after Christ's birth. Afterward, go inside the church to sing carols led by Glen Mar choir members and visit a marketplace as it looked in Jesus' day. Free. Information: 410-465-4995.
Bethany United Methodist Church will hold a service to help those who have lost a loved one, a friend, a job, experienced divorce or illness, or are lonely at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2875 Bethany Lane. All are welcome. Information: 410-465-2919.
Festival of trains
The B&O Railroad Station Museum's annual Holiday Festival of Trains is on exhibit through Jan. 26 at 2711 Maryland Ave. The exhibit includes a multilevel LEGO layout with interactive lights, motors and sounds, a Thomas the Tank G-scale layout, children's push-button layout and an N-scale layout. The Howard County Arts Council presents two exhibits through Friday, Dec. 13, in the galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road. In Gallery I is the biennial multimedia juried exhibit "Art HoCo 2013," featuring more than 50 works by 39 Howard County artists.
