Welcoming new members

The Soroptimist Club of Howard County, a service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in their community and around the world, is holding an event for new members from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Miller Branch of the county library, 9421 Frederick Road. Jeanne Allert, executive director of Samaritan Women, will speak about the need to work against human trafficking locally and beyond. Special-needs festival

The Church of the Resurrection Men's Club sponsors a Fall Fun Festival for People with Special Needs from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the church hall at 3165 Paulskirk Road.
