Fishing The Patuxent Research Refuge will host a Kids' Fishing Day at the National Wildlife Visitor Center, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop in Laurel. Activities target youths who have little or no fishing experience. Boys and girls ages 15 and younger can register for an 8:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. time slot by calling 301-497-5887. Each child should be accompanied by an adult. No personal fishing gear will be needed or allowed; the refuge will supply fishing poles and bait. Fundraising gala The Jewish Federation of Howard County presents its annual fundraiser, "Federation Live!" (formerly "The Event"), at 6:30 p.m. June 13 at Ten Oaks Ballroom, 5000 Signal Bell Lane in Clarksville. The event will honor Jewish community leaders Deborah and Harry Adler. Evening includes a cocktail reception, dinner and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the organization's social service programs for seniors, youth and teen outreach, and community families. Women's event The Department of Citizen Services' Office on Aging presents the annual "WomenFest," a wellness event for women, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 at the Gary J. Event is an interactive day that focuses on health, wellness, fashion and beauty, and is designed to inspire women to live more balanced, healthier and fuller lives.
