The Paw Paw Museum, sponsored by the Port Deposit Heritage Corp. and at 98 N. Main St., will be open on Aug. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. The Bainbridge Museum continues to open every weekend from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until December at 6 S. Main St. (the old Bank Building) and it will hold a grand opening and open house on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The Cecil County Fair closes Saturday at the fairgrounds on Route 273 in Fair Hill. In addition to the midway, the food vendors and the rides, there have been daily exhibitions, lots of music and plenty of fun for all ages. New this year is the "Pirates of the Columbian Caribbean" and the racing pigs.
The "Beat the Heat Poker Run" will be held beginning and ending at the Water Witch Fire Company's Station 72, 1 Bill Amoss Way, off Jacob Tome Highway, on Saturday, Aug. 3, with a rain date of Sunday, Aug. 4. The cost is $10 per hand, registrations will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and the last bike will be in by noon. The run is sponsored by the Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club, Maryland Chapter 6 representing Harford and Cecil counties. For more info contact Vicki Strause, 410-642-3058. A Variety Quarter Auction will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Cecil Whig newspaper building, 601 Bridge St., Elkton. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and includes dinner and two paddles. All proceeds will benefit the Relay for Life of Cecil County at Elkton.
