Since the first awards were given in 1986, the Al Cesky Scholarship Fund Inc. has honored some of the finest graduating high school scholar-athletes from secondary schools in Harford County. This scholarship fund was established by former athletes, friends, colleagues and community leaders who wanted to bring closure to the sudden passing of Albert Cesky, one of their most revered associates who touched so many lives by his guidance and mentoring.

These scholarship awards now total $54,000 annually. The fundraising is charged to the 30 rotating members of the corporation who sponsor the awards banquet, a 5K run and a golf tournament. Fortunately, community businesses and loyal donors are on board for this worthy endeavor. The corporation is deeply indebted to these generous supporters.

On June 24, the 25th annual ACSF Inc. Golf Tournament was held at Maryland Golf and Country Clubs. The day was beautiful, exciting contests challenged the players, the food was great and the amenities outstanding. Some considered the highlight of the day to chance to "Shoot for a Million Dollars." There was also a special live and silent auction event that offered stunning jewelry, sports memorabilia, art pieces and unusual and rare items. Golfers tried to win a new car which was donated by Jones Junction by shooting a hole-in-one. It was a fine outing and the Al Cesky Scholarship Fund Inc. is indebted to all who played golf, became sponsors, donated gifts-in-kind, gave financial donations, volunteered to monitor holes and perform other duties. Maryland Golf & Country Clubs was especially accommodating and the pro shop helped run a first class tournament. Thanks to all who helped make this a success.

Our mission to assist outstanding scholar-athletes in their educational goals by offering scholarships has proven what we all know, our youth are our future. Several former winners of the ACSF Awards have joined our governing board, served as officers, chaired fundraising events, served as keynote speakers and made financial gifts. Working together for the good of county, our state and our country speaks volumes about the man who inspired our vision.
