To Lisa Brenner and Kyanne Garrigan, if you don’t go within, you go without.
That’s why this fall, the Bel Air residents opened Full Heart Soul-utions, an eclectic specialty store on South Main Street that provides everything from inspirational cards, eco-friendly clothing, and all-natural soaps and essential oils to holistic services like Reiki and massage therapy.
“It’s a place to come to fully connect with people in the town but also a place to come and find a spiritual answer,” Brenner says.
“It’s a one-stop shop for mindful living,” adds Garrigan.
Brenner, who is Garrigan’s stepmother, is a certified practitioner of Reiki, a Japanese healing technique. She is also certified in attitudinal healing and empowerment, and is a life coach and ordained interfaith minister.
Garrigan is completing her bachelor’s degree in psychology and says she has long been an advocate of organic and earth-friendly practices that nurture the body, mind and spirit.
Both women say they got the idea for the business after noticing a lack of holistic goods and services in Bel Air and more people overall turning to “outside” healing, Garrigan says.
“People are looking so much outside of themselves for healing, such as Botox or plastic surgery, when what they are really searching for is internal peace, energy and healing through the body, mind and spiritual connection,” she says.
In the two-story Full Heart Soul-utions, the first floor is dedicated to items that “support responsible shopping and illuminate a mindful way of life,” Garrigan says. Products include nontoxic yoga accessories, coffee mugs, cards, vases, jewelry, vitamins and clothing. On the second floor, Full Heart Soul-utions provides its massage and Reiki services, as well as all-natural facials, reflexology, community workshops and book signings.
In addition, Full Heart Soul-utions plans to hold monthly drum circles on-site.
“We have a welcoming environment, and we’re here to nurture the community — and to enlighten the individual,” Garrigan says.
