Teenager accused of setting fire to Jarrettsville garage

Charges are pending against a teenager who allegedly set fire to a Jarrettsville garage early Monday morning, according to fire investigators.

The fire, reported at 6:44 a.m. in the 3700 block of Jarrettsville Pike, caused about $1,000 worth of damage to a two-story garage, said Senior Deputy Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire, spokesman for the State Fire Marshal's Office.

A 15-year-old juvenile is accused of setting the fire, he said.

About 10 firefighters spent 15 minutes controlling the fire, which was found by a homeowner inside the first floor of the building, according to Fire Marshal's Office's notice of investigation.

Firefighters from Fallston and Jarrettsville companies responded to the incident.
