North Harford wrestling to celebrate 50 years

The North Harford High School Hawks wrestling program is celebrating 50 years this season and Feb. 7 is the day for the official celebration.

Wrestlers from the start through wrestlers today will have a pre-meet reception at the school, starting at 5 p.m. A welcoming ceremony will follow, leading to the Hawks UCBAC non-division dual meet with Aberdeen.

Following the meet, a reception will follow.

Bill Pyle, principal at North Harford in the 1960s, started the wrestling program by hiring Anthony "Chuck" Dysleski. Starting a program from scratch with no youth program in that part of the county, Coach Dysleski was able to build a successful program.

That program is in its 50th year thanks to the guidance of coaches who followed, including Fred Holtz, Dean Petty and current head coach Gerald Christian.
