A 22-year-old Street man died in a single-car accident Monday night in Pylesville.
Harford County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 4600 block of Clermont Mill Road around 9:15 p.m. Monday for a report of a crash. When they arrived, Nicholas Paul Bellinger, 21, of the 2300 block of Whiteford Road in Whiteford, was outside the 2004 Nissan passenger car he had been driving, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.
His passenger, Joseph Paul Giannasca, 22, of the 1000 block of Woodshire Lane in Street, was trapped in the car, according to the release.
Bellinger had been driving south on Clermont Mill when the car left the road and hit a tree.
Both men were treated at the scene by volunteer fire and EMS crews from Norrisville and Jarrettsville volunteer fire companies. Bellinger was taken by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.
Giannasca taken by ambulance to York (PA) Hospital. Weather conditions prevented the patient from being transported by Medevac. Giannasca later died of his injuries
Sheriff's office accident reconstructionists were called to the scene and the crash is under investigation.
The cause of the accident could not be determined as of Tuesday afternoon, Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Edward Hopkins said.
"They'll need to take into consideration weather, road conditions and speed of the vehicle," Hopkins said in an email.
