Mason-Dixon Business Association President Gene Jones presented a $1,000 check from the organization for scholarships to North Harford High School Principal Ed Herbold at a holiday luncheon recently.
In expressing gratitude to MDBA, Herbold acknowledged the organization's support and said, "You've been good friends to our school."
Teacher Greg Murrell said the business organization has already aided with partial scholarships to two students from the magnet program, which provides instruction in natural resources and agriculture. That program, open to all Harford County students, has seen many students seeking to pursue careers in STEM or related fields, he said.
MDBA provided the $1,000 contribution partially through proceeds of members' luncheons on Dec. 18 at Peach Bottom Inn and a silent auction of donated items from organization firms.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
