Boy, 9, taken to hospital after being pulled from swimming pool

A 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Saturday evening after he nearly drowned in a swimming pool in Kingsville.

Andy Doyle, spokesman for the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, said via text message that the boy was "awake and talking," but he was taken to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore by a Joppa-Magnolia ambulance as a precaution.

The fire company responded to the 800 block of Karen Drive in Kingsville, which is less than a mile from Route 152 (Mountain Road) in Joppa.

Doyle said the boy was rescued from the pool by a civilian, and he was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
