Editor:

Chesapeake Cancer Alliance would like to thank the sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees who supported our eighth CCA Festival of Trees at the Bel Air Armory. We had a very successful weekend and all proceeds support Upper Chesapeake Health's Kaufman Cancer Center's Cancer LifeNet Program which provides free support and services to cancer patients in Harford County and western Cecil County.

The festival owes its success to the many businesses, organizations, individuals and CCA volunteers who decorated and donated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses which were sold by silent auction. For a list of the tree, wreath and gingerbread donors, visit our web site. A special thanks to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard youth group who ran our children's activities, and the Hope Club of Bel Air High School, who volunteered many hours of help.

We are very appreciative of our sponsors: Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan, Kissinger Financial Services, Harford Mutual Insurance Co., Wells Fargo Advisors, George's Custom Towing, Churchville Ruritan, PNC Bank and Harford Community College. Many thanks to our friends and community members for their generous donations: Foltz Automotive LLC, MacPhail Pharmacy, Saxon's, Stamper Electric, Inc., Andrew & Norma McDonald, Barbara Leavy, LLC, McComas Funeral Home, DPM Recycling, Wilmington, De., Judy & Howard McComas, Sharon Meissner, John Bauer, Bryon Michaels, Mickie Sachs, Kelly Financial Group, Binkie & Stan Lentz and Bel Air Kitchens Plus.

We are grateful for the support of the staff of the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation, Dave Giglotti - Bel Air Armory, Tom Kunkel & Shirl Fitzpatrick - Full House Press, and the Bel Air Downtown Alliance. Our special events were a big success and we thank John Sobus for his musical entertainment for the Wine Down Social, Professor Horn who entertained us with his lively magic show, and Kristen Foss for her story telling as Mrs. Claus. We enjoyed the performances of the Ryan Kilcoyne School of Irish Dance and the holiday singing of the Ding Dongs. A special thanks to the Harford County Reading Council who distributed books to the children.

The Wine Down Social on Friday was supported by many local restaurants including Pairings Bistro, the Orient, Open Door Café, Red Lobster, Main Street Tower, McShane's Gourmet, Shop Rite - Bel Air, MaGerk's, Buontempo Brothers, All About Cookies, Box Hill Crab Cakes and Famous Dave's.

Chesapeake Cancer Alliance is a nonprofit organization which supports UCH's Cancer LifeNet services by raising funds through major events, personal projects and community donations. In 2013, we have presented Cancer LifeNet over $200,000 for their work in giving support to our community friends who have been diagnosed with cancer.

We invite the community to volunteer to help us with our fundraising events. For more information go to http://www.chesapeakecanceralliance.org.
