The score is Joppatowne, 0, Craig, 0.
It's a lose-lose situation thanks to Mr. Craig, who nixed the expenditure in the county budget to purchase a sorely-needed community recreation building for Joppatowne.
Instead, he made the decision to purchase .88 acres of contaminated land in Havre de Grace. That was the wrong decision; $750,000 was available (in county funds) which was approximately the amount needed to buy the swim club property. Thanks a bunch for supporting us Mr. Craig — ha ha.
On the other hand, County Councilman, Mr. Dion Guthrie, has been a staunch supporter for the county to purchase the swim club property from the start. We thank him for his input and the many hours of service to Joppatowne residents.
It seems like Joppatowne has been ignored once more. We presented the county with a petition that was signed by thousands. We attended public hearings. We made our wish known to Mr. Craig. We lost a community building. Craig lost our respect and our votes.
