Woman injured, trapped in pickup after Joppa accident Thursday

A woman was taken to a Baltimore trauma center Thursday morning after she suffered major injuries after crashing into a telephone pole in Joppa.

The accident happened near the intersection of Route 152 (Mountain Road) and Route 40 (Pulaski Highway).

Maryland State Police are investigating the single-vehicle crash, but State Police officials could not release the victim's name as of Thursday afternoon. Troopers said the woman's injuries were not life-threatening.

Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded after being alerted around 7:45 a.m., according to a fire company news release.

The woman was driving a pickup truck, which was on its side when the firefighters arrived at the scene, according to the news release. She was the only one in the vehicle.

Firefighters freed the woman from the truck by taking out the windshield.

EMS responders then took her by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, according to Andy Doyle, spokesman for the fire company.
