The girls volleyball regional playoff draw was held Monday and six Harford teams will be in action this week in first round contests, while four others received byes and will begin play next week.
In Class 2A East Section 1, Patterson Mill will host North East and Fallston will visit Elkton. In 3A North Section 2, Edgewood will host Dundalk; North Harford will host C. Milton Wright and Aberdeen will host Patapsco. First round matches will be played Thursday or Friday.
Havre de Grace and Joppatowne in 1A East Section 1; Harford Tech in 2A East Section 1; and Bel Air in 3A North Section 2, all will play Monday, Nov. 4 in section semifinals.
Tech beats Edgewood
In final regular season play last week, Harford Tech (10-4 league, 10-5 overall) beat host Edgewood (3-10 league, 3-12 overall), 3-0, in UCBAC Susquehanna Division play on Thursday.
The scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-15.
Leading Tech were Alyssa Hockaday, four aces, three kills; Karizma Hockaday, one ace, three kills; Megan Gardner, one kill; Jamie Tubao, one ace, three kills, five assists; Jenna Hathazi, two aces, one kill, four assists; Amber Olson, one ace, six kills, one block; Sydney Tudor, two kills; Charice Corbin, four aces, two kills and Amy Huynh, one ace.
Leaders for Edgewood were Kelsey Swann, 11 assists, two aces; Harmony Welsh, five kills; and Breanna Barber, five kills.
Outstanding defense was played by Alexis McCoy, Shannon Bowman and Julia Gatch, noted Edgewood Head Coach Sarah Friedman.
Panthers beat Huskies
Patterson Mill (6-8 league, 6-9 overall) lost 3-0 at Susquehanna Champion Perryville (13-1 league, 13-2 overall) on Thursday. The scores were 20-25, 22-25 and 20-25.
The Huskies were guided by Sarah Alders, six kills, two dinks for points, one block for point (17 blocks), one save; Samantha Denson, four aces, one save, three blocks; Kayla McDowell, one ace, two kills, one dink for point, three saves, seven blocks, 20 assists and Hannah Roussey, two kills, three saves, five blocks and 21 assists.
