Cobras, Huskies, Panthers, Eagles get girls volleyball wins

Harford Tech's girls volleyball team earned another UCBAC Susquehanna Division win Wednesday, knocking off host Bo Manor, 3-1.

The Cobras (9-4 league, 9-5 overall) won the first set, 25-20, but dropped the second set, 18-25. Tech then closed out the match with 25-20 and 25-21 wins.

Highlighting the Cobras victory were Amber Olson, three kills, four blocks, two assists; Charice Corbin, one ace, one kill, one block; Sydney Tudor, one ace, two kills; Alyssa Hockaday, four kills; Karizma Hockaday, two aces, one block, three kills; Jenna Hathazi, four blocks; and Jamie Tubao, two aces and six assists.

Huskies beat Warriors

Patterson Mill (6-7 league, 6-8 overall) knocked off visiting Havre de Grace (3-10 league, 3-11 overall), 3-0, Wednesday in Susquehanna play. Scores were 25-17, 26-24 and 25-21.

The Huskies leaders were Samantha Denson, six aces, three kills, one dink for point, two blocks for points (four blocks); Kayla McDowell, four aces, one kill, one dink for point, five saves, 27 assists, four blocks; Haley Scribner, one ace, one kill, one dink for point, four blocks for points (13 blocks), one save; Hannah Roussey, one ace, two kills, five saves, two blocks, 31 assists; Sarah Alders, three kills, four dinks for points, one block for point (17 blocks), one save; and Morgan Allen, one ace, two kills and eight saves.

Panthers beat Rams

The Perryville girls volleyball team, UCBAC Susquehanna Division champions, won again Wednesday, defeating visiting Edgewood, 3-0. Game scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-16.

Leaders for Edgewood (3-10 league, 3-11 overall) were Kelsey Swann, two aces, seven assists; Julia Gatch, three aces, two kills; and Harmony Welsh, three kills.

Outstanding defense was played by Shannon Bowman, Liz Padin, Alexis McCoy and Cassandra Rogers, according to Head Coach Sarah Friedman.

Leading the Panthers (12-1 league, 12-2 overall) were Morgan Tennant, 19 service points, 13 aces, 17 assists, three kills, two blocks, two digs; Emily Merklinger, 11 kills, three blocks, two digs; and Teri Wennersten, 12 service points, four aces, and four blocks.

The Panthers will meet Chesapeake champion Rising Sun, Tuesday at Cecil Community College in the UCBAC championship match. Match time is 7 p.m.

Eagles blank Mariners

Aberdeen (10-4 league, 11-4 overall) closed out its Susquehanna season with a 3-0 win at Joppatowne (0-13 league, 0-14 overall) on Wednesday. The scores were 25-13, 25-17 and 25-11.
