Fallston, Tech, Patterson Mill, Bel Air girls get Monday wins in volleyball

Girls volleyball teams were back in full UCBAC action Monday with Bel Air, Harford Tech, Fallston, Perryville and Patterson Mill each collecting wins.

In Fallston, the Cougars defeated North Harford, 3-0, by scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-11 in a Chesapeake Division match.

The Cougars were led by Phoenix Offutt's nine kills and Asia Avena's six kills. Anna Holehouse had eight digs and Offutt added two blocks. Emily Mozal dished out 18 assists.

Tech beat HdG

Harford Tech beat visiting Havre de Grace, 3-2, in Susquehanna Division play. The scores were 9-25, 25-13, 25-20, 13-25 and 15-12.

Tech stat leaders were Ashley Huster, three aces; Alyssa Hockaday, four kills; Amber Olson, four kills, six blocks; and Jenna Hathazi, four aces.

Samara White and Elisa Rivera each served 20 points to lead Havre de Grace and Rebecca Ashman added 15 service points.

Panthers beat Eagles

Perryville knocked off visiting Aberdeen, 3-2, in Susquehanna action. The scores were 14-24, 25-19, 16-25, 25-17 and 15-7.

Stat leaders for Perryville were Morgan Tennant, six aces, 26 assists; Emily Merklinger, 19 kills, one block; Kylie Shiflett, six kills, eight digs; and Kaylan Smith, 11 digs.

Huskies beat Rams

Edgewood and host Patterson Mill also needed five sets to settle their Susquehanna match. Patterson Mill won, 3-2. Scores were 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 23-25 and 15-9.

Leaders for Edgewood in the loss were Kelsey Swann, seven aces, 19 assists; Alexis McCoy, eight digs, nine kills; Breanna Barber, five kills, one block; and Delani Noel six aces.

Bobcats beat Mustangs

The Bel Air girls volleyball team needed five sets Monday to get past host C. Milton Wright in Chesapeake play.

CMW won set one, 26-24, with Bel Air taking set two, 25-13. CMW then won set three, 25-19, but Bel Air stayed alive with a 25-20 win in set four. The Bobcats then won the match, winning set five, 15-7.

Mariners lose

Joppatowne suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of visiting Bo Manor in Susquehanna play. The scores were 24-26, 15-25 and 17-25.

Cougars win Franklin Tournament

The Cougars placed first at Franklin's first volleyball tournament Saturday, beating Roland Park, 3-0, (25-15, 22-25, 15-12) and Franklin by scores of 25-22 and 25-21.

Leading the Cougars all day was Anna Holehouse, who put up 21 digs, seven aces and five kills. Emily Mozal put up 30 assists with Lauren Woollen and Phoenix Offutt each coming away with eight kills each.

Friday's opening action

It's a new coach and new season for the Bel Air girls volleyball team, but a familiar result Friday as the Bobcats opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Patterson Mill. Scores were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14. No further details were provided.

Cougars drop opener

Fallston went on the road to Severna Park Friday and lost 3-0. The Cougars scores 21-25, 13-25, 21-25.

The Cougars were led by Lauren Woollen and Brooke Alexander with four kills each and Emily Mozal with 12 assists. Defensively Anna Holehouse put up 11 digs and Phoenix Offutt contributed four blocks.

Mariners lose too

Joppatowne was also beaten Friday, losing at Poly, 3-1. The scores were 12-25, 14-25, 25-16 and 23-25. No stats were provided.
