Havre de Grace girls celebrate 12 seniors with Monday soccer win over Perryville

The Havre de Grace girls soccer team celebrated its 12 seniors before Monday's Senior Night game with visiting Perryville and then went onto the field and enjoyed a 1-0 win over their cross-river rival.

The contest, a non-division game among UCBAC schools, was a rematch. Perryville won the previous game, 4-1.

In Monday's match, junior Rachel Rossi tallied the game's only goal just 9:54 into the first half. Rossi controlled a loose ball, some 30 yards out in the middle of the field and sent a high ball into the back of the net over Panthers goalie Courtney Comer.

Havre de Grace (4-7) goalie Riley Arnold posted six saves in the win and Perryville (3-8) keeper Comer made eight saves.

Rams beat Kenwood

Edgewood (11-3-1) visited Kenwood on Monday and left with a 7-1 win in non-league play.

Isabella Barbieri and Angela Wood each scored twin goals, while single goals were scored by Caitlin Rankin, Alex Van Graafeliland and Ladae Boykin.

Alyssa Rankin had three assists, while Melanie Parncutt, Barbieri, Megan Poniatowski and Shelby Richter had one assist each

Edgewood goalie Nasia Denegal had three saves.

Huskies beat Elks

Patterson Mill (6-6-2 overall) posted a 2-0 win Monday over visiting Elkton in non-league play.

Jenna Staton and Sam Davies netted goals; both were unassisted. Huskies goalie Stephanie Ehly made eight saves.

Playoff draw

The regional playoff draw was held Monday, and six Harford teams will begin play Friday. In Class 2A East Section 1, Patterson Mill will visit Rising Sun and Fallston will play at Elkton. In 3A North Section 2, Edgewood will host Patapsco, North Harford will host Aberdeen and Bel Air will host Dundalk.

In 1A South Section 1, Havre de Grace will host Joppatowne in the section championship on Nov. 1. Harford Tech in 2A East and C. Milton Wright in 3A North will host games Oct. 29.

Rams edge Cobras Thursday

In a limited girls soccer schedule Thursday, Edgewood turned back visiting Harford Tech, 1-0, in a non-league contest.

Edgewood's Alex van Graafeiland netted the game's only goal in the second half. T'mya Lawrence and Isabella Barbieri were credited with assists.

Edgewood goalie Nasia Denegal made nine saves and Tech (9-2-3) keeper Julie Ransone had 14.

Cougars tie

Fallston (5-7-1) traveled to Broadneck and battled the Bruins to a 2-2 tie in non-league action Thursday.

Courtney Epstein and Sierrah Taylor tallied goals and Megan Shock and Mary Beth Esposito had assists.

Mustangs win a pair

A day after clinching its fifth straight UCBAC Chesapeake Division title, C. Milton Wright traveled to Hereford on Thursday and won, 2-1, in a non-league match with the Bulls.

Angela Kuhn scored on a direct kick and Emily Naff added a goal from Mackenzie Cunningham on a corner kick.

On Saturday, CMW (11-3 overall) went back on the road to beat St. Paul's, 2-0.

Megan Pavlista scored with assist by Katie Burgee and Burgee then scored with an assist from Kuhn.

Warriors lose

Havre de Grace (2-4 league) dropped a UCBAC Susquehanna (lower) Division contest, 2-1, to visiting Bo Manor on Thursday.

The Warriors struck first, less than five minutes into the game, when Colleen Ridings scored with assist from Lauren Herrington.

Bo Manor, however, came back with goals near the midway point in each half to steal the win.

Havre de Grace goalie Riley Arnold finished with seven saves.
