Wednesday heat forces postponement of three girls soccer games

Because of Wednesday's unseasonable heat and humidity, all three girls soccer games scheduled for Wednesday were postponed after Cecil County Public Schools canceled all outside athletic events for schools that day.

Games postponed and rescheduled were Bo Manor at Patterson Mill, Perryville at Joppatowne and Edgewood at North East.

Mustangs beat Patriots

The girls soccer schedule for Tuesday was a very light one, with John Carroll's visit to C. Milton Wright the only game in town.

John Carroll took a 1-0 lead into the half on a goal by freshman Abby Hormes, but CMW reeled off three unanswered goals in the second half to win.

Alyssa Austen led the Mustangs scoring with two goals. Megan Pavlitsa, who assisted on one of Austen's goals, added a goal as well.

Adrianna Tarbert and Jordan Nichols also dished out assists for CMW. John Carroll had a 7-6 shot advantage.

CMW goalie Stacy Venanzi earned the win, making five saves, while John Carroll keeper Katie Cooper made three saves.
