Girls basketball action in Harford County was light Monday night, when Patterson Mill and Harford Christian both collected wins.
Patterson Mill's win came at North Harford in UCBAC Chesapeake (upper) Division play. The Huskies defeated the Hawks, 61-28.
Qalea Ismail scored a career high 36 points to guide the Huskies (7-1 league, 13-3 overall). Ismail also added three assists and three steals. Sam Herman had 10 points, while dishing out nine assists and making four steals.
Chyna Latimer hauled in 12 rebounds and added nine points and three steals, while Stephanie Ehly had five assists and six rebounds.
HCS wins MACSAC
Harford Christian's win came at home, a 52-40 win over Sparrows Point.
Grace Shannahan and Chloe Akers led the Eagles (14-5) scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Kelsey Williams added eight points and nine rebounds and Gabriele Joyner had 10 rebounds.
Harford Christian claimed the Maryland Association of Christian Schools Athletic Conference regular season title Saturday, winning at Granite Baptist in Glen Burnie, 46-36.
A 17-7 first quarter advantage gave the Eagles a cushion that was cut in half by halftime. The Eagles, however, added to the lead again in the third quarter and led 38-27 with a quarter to play.
Shannahan led Harford with 13 points and Williams added 11 points. Lily Loomis had eight points and nine rebounds and Taylor Lavin grabbed 11 boards.
On Friday, Harford Christian turned back host Perryville, 47-26, in non-league play. Shannahan and Williams led the Eagles with 10 points each. Williams completed the double-double with 10 rebounds.
After more than a week off the court, a few girls basketball teams were back in action Friday, with C. Milton Wright, North Harford and Harford Christian each collecting victories.
CMW's win came at Edgewood in UCBAC Chesapeake Division play, despite a career night from Edgewood senior Shania Stamper.
The Mustangs (4-4 league, 8-8 overall) put three players in double figures en route to a 77-60 win.
Emma Hahner had a huge night of 27 points and 24 rebounds to lead the Mustangs, while Alexis Johnson nearly had a double-double, finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds. Megan Aro added 15 points and five assists.
The Mustangs threesome was nearly outshined by Stamper, who tossed in a career best 47 points for the Rams (1-5 league, 5-6 overall).
Hawks beat Mariners
North Harford (8-6 overall) hosted Joppatowne (2-13 overall) in a non-division game. The Hawks won, 60-31.
Annie Wernig led the Hawks with 23 points and Ally Whitacre chipped in with 19.
John Carroll dropped its IAAM A Conference game with visiting Seton Keough Friday, losing 54-44.
Marta Moix scored 16 points to pace the Patriots, while Rita Watson added 11 points. Lucie Passwater and Hailey Kyger added six points each.
