Friday nights are usually reserved for the county's boys basketball teams, but this particular Friday night found Harford's best two girls teams in action as well.
Aberdeen and Patterson Mill were both playing at home and both were winners in their respective UCBAC Chesapeake Division games.
Division leading Aberdeen defeated Bel Air, 65-33. The Eagles, who led 35-20 at the half, placed four players in the double figure scoring column.
Nazje Norton's 21 points was tops and Stephanie Jones added 18 points. Lisa Eller and Katie Sanderson each scored 10 points.
Meagan Barnett led Bel Air with seven points, while Natalie Neff had six points.
Huskies beat Rams
Patterson Mill's win came over Edgewood, 59-40. The game was knotted, 9-9, after one quarter, but Edgewood failed to score in quarter two and trailed, 29-9, at the half.
Qalea Ismail, who is closing in on 1,000 points for her career (972), led the Huskies with 19 points. Ismail also had seven rebounds and three assists.
Samantha Herman had a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists. Herman added six steals. Chyna Latimer also had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. She had five steals.
All but one player scored for Patterson Mill. Head Coach Holly Ismail said: "It was a great team effort."
John Carroll was also in action Friday, but it didn't go so well as the Patriots were beaten handily, 67-21, by visiting McDonogh. Marta Moix scored nine points and Dooryia Kane scored five to lead the Patriots.
Thursday night girls basketball proved to a good thing for a handful of teams, as Fallston, C. Milton Wright and Harford Christian each collected lopsided victories.
Fallston, which leads the UCBAC's Susquehanna (lower) Division, notched another win over visiting Bo Manor. The Cougars jumped out to a 29-5 halftime lead and cruised to a 49-19 win.
Logan Gasior was the lone Cougar to score in double digits. She had 16. Jordan Vocke added eight points and Kayla Reilly had seven. Nine players scored for Fallston.
Mustangs thump Elks
C. Milton Wright's win came at Elkton, where the Mustangs rolled to an 60-14 Chesapeake (upper) Division win.
Emma Hahner led the Mustangs with 15 points and seven rebounds and Laura Mrugalski chipped in with 11 points and four steals.
CMW led at the half, 35-8.
Eagles roll, too
Harford Christian also rolled to an easy win, beating visiting Rosedale Baptist, 55-16, in MACSAC play.
Taylor Lavin led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds. Lily Loomis added 10 points and Kelsey Williams pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Grace Humes had seven steals of the Eagles 29 overall.
Warriors streak snapped
Havre de Grace saw its three-game win streak come to a halt at Rising Sun in Susquehanna play. The Warriors lost, 49-37.
The Warriors trailed 26-21 at the half, and took their only lead of the game (27-26) with 5:15 to play in the third quarter. Rising Sun then scored the next nine points and led 39-29 after three quarters.
Taylor Smith scored 15 points to lead the Warriors and Addie Richardson scored 14.
Cobras edge Mariners
In other Susquehanna action, Harford Tech slid past host Joppatowne, 51-50. Briana McCalister scored 16 points to lead the Cobras.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
