Fallston nets comeback win over Patterson Mill; Bel Air, CMW stay perfect in field hockey

The Fallston field hockey squad picked up its first Chesapeake Division victory of the season on Wednesday night, as the Cougars edged out host Patterson Mill, 2-1.

The victory put Fallston at 4-2-1 overall, and 1-0-1 in upper-division play. The Huskies fell to 2-3 overall, and 0-2 against Chesapeake opponents.

"[There] was excellent goalie play on both sides tonight," Fallston head coach Alice Puckett said. "Both teams has 19 shots. It was a very exciting game, with a lot of offense from both teams."

Patterson Mill kicked off scoring near the 16-minute mark, as Taylor Wilhelm scored with an assist by Alyssa Jourdan.

The Huskies went into the halftime break still holding their 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Fallston's Jenna Caldwell tied the match, scoring off an assist by Erin McClelland. Becky Street later scored the game-winning goal for the Cougars, with the assist coming from Jane Bradley.

Fallston goalie Kayla Solomon had 12 saves.

Patterson Mill's Maddie Hedrick had 13 saves in goal.

Bel Air bashes Perryville

The Bel Air Bobcats (5-0 overall, 1-0 Chesapeake) dispatched visiting Perryville on Wednesday, 6-1.

The Bobcats goals were well portioned out, with Olivia Auer, Meghan Scary, Anna Farley, Kailee Chavis, Judy Yurkofsky and Lauren Fisher each found the Perryville net one time.

Yurkofsky, Auer and Jessica Vazquez all had one assist.

CMW stays perfect

Playing on their home field Wednesday night, the C. Milton Wright Mustangs (6-0 overall) won a non-UCBAC contest with St. Mary's Ryken, defeating their guests, 3-0.

CMW's had one goal in the first half, with Maggie Gallagher knocking away a shot after taking a feed from Jenny Eckert.

Five minutes into the second half, Eckert sent a penalty corner insertion to Sabrina Rhodes, who found the net to give CMW a 2-0 cushion.

The Mustangs' Audrey Boroshok scored the game's final goal with eight minutes remaining in the game to seal up the win. Rhodes provided the assist in the last tally.

CMW goalkeepers Sydney Rhodes and Nicole Leighty combined efforts in the shutout.

North Harford wins with one goal

North Harford (3-0 overall, 1-0 Chesapeake) picked up a big upper-division victory on Wednesday, as the Hawks made their one and only goal count in a 1-0 victory against visiting North East.

The two squads played a scoreless first half.

In the second half, North Harford's Sophie Crowther netted a goal with an assist by Juliet Dolinar, giving her team the winning margin.

Splitting time in the North Harford net, goalies Jess Hart and Juliane Caughron each posted two saves.

Tech over Edgewood

The Harford Tech Cobras won on the road Wednesday, bumping off host Edgewood, 3-1.

The win moved the Cobras to 4-3 overall, and 2-0 in Susquehanna (lower) Division contests. Edgewood (0-2 Susquehanna) fell to 2-4 for the year.

Meagan Sturla led the Cobra offense with a two-goal, one-assist performance. Courtney Poole had one goal, while Mikaela Hairston contributed two assists.

Edgewood's goal was scored by Summer Howard.

Joppatowne blanks Havre de Grace

The Joppatowne Mariners (4-3 overall, 2-1 Susquehanna) came away with a 1-0 road victory over Havre de Grace (0-6 overall, 0-2 Susquehanna) in a Wednesday matchup.

Havre de Grace goalie Kateri Peters had seven saves.

John Carroll topped

The John Carroll Patriots lost their Wednesday road showdown with Mount de Sales, 6-2.

Morgan Taylor and Katie Sullivan both scored unassisted for the Patriots.

John Carroll goalie Amanda Brannan had a season-best performance, posting 17 saves in the loss.
