Man airlifted after crash in Fallston early Saturday

A man was seriously injured before dawn Saturday morning after he crashed head on into a tree off Route 152 (Fallston Road) in Fallston, according to police and fire officials.

The man, who was unidentified as of late Saturday afternoon, was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore via a Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter.

Dave Williams, spokesman for the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company, said the man had "non-life-threatening" injuries.

The crash occurred in the 2900 block of Fallston Road. Williams said the road was closed for a short period while state troopers investigated the accident.

First responders were notified around 4:35 a.m. Saturday, said Cpl. Dudek of the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack.

Dudek said the crash victim was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee, and that he had fallen asleep, crossed the yellow highway dividing line and crashed into the tree.
