Swim-a-Thon set to honor Fallston Fins swimmer killed in crash

The Fallston Fins Swim Team is getting ready for its annual Swim-a-Thon to honor 8-year-old Wil Brady, a team member killed in a crash on the Bel Air Bypass in 2008.

On Wednesday, the Katie and Wil Brady Memorial Foundation Inc., will again hold the event to remember Wil (short for Wilson) Brady. Team members can collect pledges per lap or flat donations and each age group will have an hour for each child to swim as many laps as possible.

Perry Hall residents Wil and his mother, Katie Brady, died in a head-on collision in November 2008 on the Bel Air Bypass. Wil's father and 2-year-old brother, who were also in the car, were seriously injured but survived.

The driver of the other vehicle, Christopher Lentz, is serving a 13-year prison term after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter.

The foundation was created in 2009 and with the goal of building the Katie and Wil Brady Trail at the Marshy Point Nature Center in Chase. Construction on that trail is set to start this summer.
