The C. Milton Wright Mustangs took a victory by the smallest of margins Monday night, defeating host Perry Hall, 67-66.
The contest was tight from beginning to end, with C. Milton Wright going into the locker room at halftime holding a 30-29 advantage.
Will Hazelton led the Mustangs with an 18-point effort, and also picked off four steals.
Jamal Worthington and Mychal Stefanides had 15 points each, while Stefanides had four steals and five assists as well. Connor Bays had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds in the victory.
Edgewood thumps Havre de Grace
The Edgewood Rams took a 33-point victory over visiting Havre de Grace on Monday, beating the Warriors, 86-53.
Roderick Harrison had another fine offensive showing for the Rams, posting 35 points.
Edgewood's Dorian Eure knocked down 15 points, all of which came on three-point shots, while Keyon Williams finished the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Rams led, 37-28, at halftime.
Tech trumps Loch Raven
The Harford Tech Cobras notched a 68-45 home-court win over the Loch Raven squad Monday.
Fred Gordon led the Cobras in two categories, notching 14 points and eight rebounds.
Tyler Mister had 13 points in the win, while Darius Dangerfield had 10 points and four assists.
John Carroll up, down
Playing at the Gonzaga Classic Tournament from Friday to Sunday, the John Carroll Patriots took a pair of losses, but managed to hand the host squad a loss in the second round.
The Patriots opened with a 47-40 loss to the Cesar Chavez School squad, topped Gonzaga, 66-57, on Saturday, then suffered a 68-67 overtime loss to Virginia's Herndon team in the Sunday game.
In the opening-round loss, John Carroll was led by Eli Long, who had 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Jordan Martin had eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Mike Tertsea posted six points, five rebounds and three blocks, while Lionel Owona notched nine rebounds, four points, two assists and two blocks.
Leading the way for the Patriots in their victory over the host team was Kimbal Mackenzie, who dropped 34 points, four assists, two steals and one rebound. Long had 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Tertsea had nine rebounds, six points, three blocks and one steal.
The final-round loss to Herndon saw Long contribute 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and a game-best 10 assists. Tertsea had nine points, nine rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal, while Owona posted 11 points, seven rebounds and one block. Malik Tyne had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists in the loss.
