Shad Roe dealt a double dose of defeats in week five

After going 21-1 over a three-week span, I got a little too comfy with myself, and the result was a pair of bum picks in my week five predictions. Normally two losses wouldn't get me down so bad, but, like a famous scientist once said, it's all relative. Looking forward, I've got two rounds worth of picks to drop on you this time, because week seven is going to be played on a Thursday, before The Record comes off the press. Hopefully, I find perfection once again.

Friday, Oct. 11:

Perryville at C. Milton Wright. The Panthers engineered a last-minute comeback to ward off the powerful Bel Air team last Friday, as I figured they would, but there's no time to rest because this week they've got another tough matchup. The pick: Perryville wins, 24-23.

Aberdeen at North Harford. If the Aberdeen offense shows up, this could be a mighty fine game. The pick: North Harford wins, 35-28.

Havre de Grace at Bel Air. The Bobcats have shown some gaps in their armor recently, but I don't think the Warriors have the offensive oomph to topple them. The pick: Bel Air wins, 38-21.

Fallston at Patterson Mill. Here's another one that could be a lot of fun to watch if both teams have their offenses in full gear. The pick: Fallston wins, 28-20.

Elkton at Edgewood. The pick: Edgewood wins, 21-16.

Lansdowne at Joppatowne. The pick: Lansdowne wins, 32-21.

Bo Manor at Harford Tech. The pick: Bo Manor wins, 24-14.

Thursday, Oct. 17:

Havre de Grace at Perryville. The pick: Perryville wins, 34-24.

Aberdeen at Bel Air. The pick: Aberdeen wins, 30-27.

C. Milton Wright at Fallston. The pick: Fallston wins, 27-17.

Patterson Mill at North Harford. The pick: North Harford wins, 35-21.

Bo Manor at Joppatowne. The pick: Joppatowne wins, 24-20.

North East at Harford Tech. The pick: Harford Tech wins, 21-17.

Edgewood at Rising Sun. The pick: Edgewood wins, 40-21.

Last week's record: 4-2

Shad's all-time record: 1,831-688, 72.7 percent.
