The John Carroll Patriots squared off with the visiting Bel Air Bobcats in the 10th annual Battle of Bel Air wrestling dual meet on Saturday night, and after 14 bouts, the hosts came away with a decisive 58-12 victory.

For John Carroll, it was a cavalcade of pins in a match that featured two of Harford's top wrestling programs.

The Patriots also saw two of their top guns pass the same milestone at Saturday's event, as All-American selections George Weber and Scott Strappelli both earned the 150th victories of their high school careers.

Weber won the 152-pound bout by pinning Bel Air's Justin Noles at the 3:32 mark, while Strappelli beat his Bel Air opponent, Cameron Watts, by technical fall in the 132-pound match.

John Carroll's Christian Almony took the 160-pound contest with a pin of the Bobcats' John Cross and teammate Christian Scott likewise notched a victory by pin in the 170-pound contest, topping Bel Air's Ryan Gibbons.

Winning the 138-pound matchup by pin was John Carroll's Artie Milner, who earned his victory over Bel Air's Ryan Beveridge. Austin Smith helped out the winning cause with a victory by pin over Bobcat opponent Gavin Rupprecht in the 113-pound matchup.

The Patriots' Zach Dwyer won the 120-pound bout also by a pin, taking down Bel Air's Brady Stafford at the 1:53 mark.

Steven Jernigan grabbed a major decision victory for John Carroll in the 145-pound bout, defeating Noah Winter, 15-5, while fellow Patriot C.J. Skokowski took the 106-pound match by an 11-2, major decision victory over David Reagan. Rounding out the Patriots' victories was Devin Davis, who notched a 13-4, major decision win in his 126-pound contest with Bel Air's Connor Nash. John Carroll's Hunter Ritter won the 182-pound match by forfeit.

Bel Air's wins came in the three heaviest weight classes, where William Holder-Moore started the three-match run for the Bobcats by taking the 195-pound match with a second-period pin of John Carroll's Dan Kelble. Cyler Crawford took the 220-pound bout for Bel Air by 7-2 decision over Ryan Etkins, and then the Bobcats Luke Schlegel won the 285-pound contest, a 9-5 decision over Andy Reininger.

C. Milton Wright takes out Perryville

C. Milton Wright beat host Perryville, 42-27, in wrestling Monday.

CMW's Mike Ritz won the 120-pound bout, pinning his Perryville opponent at the 5:08 mark.

Spencer Hellman earned the Mustangs a victory at 138 pounds, ending the match with a pin in just under 90 seconds.

The Mustangs' Nick DiMattia earned a win by pin at the 3:18 mark in the 126-pound contest.

CMW's Dough Thier won the 182-pound event in a close, 4-2 decision.

In the 285-pound bout, CMW's Frankie Marzen won by 7-5 decision.

CMW took three victories by forfeit.

Patterson Mill cleans up at tourney

Competing at the seven-team tournament in Joppatowne over the weekend, the Patterson Mill Huskies combined to go 6-1 against their opposition.

The Huskies combined to knock off host Joppatowne, 54-24, and beat Havre de Grace, 58-21. Patterson Mill also knocked off Towson, 45-12, Meade, 54-18, and Dunbar, 69-12. The Huskies' only loss was a narrow, 37-34 defeat at the hands of Southern Anne Arundel.
