John Carroll wrestling splits to compete in pair of weekend tourneys

The John Carroll wrestling team split itself in two on Saturday to attend a pair of meets in Delaware, finishing fourth overall at the Howdy Duncan Classic at William Penn High School and taking 29th out of 106 teams at the Beast of the East event.

Of the eight wrestlers who went to William Penn, two came back with individual titles. Andy Millner was top finisher in the 126-pound event, while Andy Reininger took top honors in the 220-pound contest.

Philip Venanzi finished second in the 145-pound. event, while Scott Miser took second place out of the 132-pound grapplers.

Steven Jerrigan took third place in the 138-pound field, while Austin Ross finished fourth in the 152-pound contest. John Carroll's 106-pound wrestler Mike McCabe took a fifth-place finish.

At the Beast of the East Tournament, the Patriots had just one wrestler post a top-three finish, with Hunter Ritter taking third overall at 195 pounds.
