John Carroll continued to flex on the wrestling mat Wednesday, traveling to St. Paul's, where the Patriots defeated the Crusaders, 51-28.

The Patriots were missing three starters out sick, but it didn't matter: they won nine of the 14 bouts.

CJ Skokowski won by fall in 40 seconds at 106 pounds, while Zach Dwyer collected a forfeit at 120. At 138, Justin Freeman won 7-6 in OT and at 145, Philip Venanzi pinned in 4:30. George Weber followed at 152 with a 1:55 fall and Christian Scott accepted a forfeit at 170 as did Hunter Ritter at 182.

Jay Etkins won by pin in 2:48 at 195 and Dan Kelble picked up the final win at 220 by pin in 4:16.

Hawks beat Indians

North Harford and visiting North East met in a 13-bout meet and the Hawks won on the scoreboard, 42-36, on the strength of five pins and two forfeits.

Earning the pins were Trevor Smith, 120; Jordan Avig, 126; Kevin Griffin, 152; Angelo Koulatsos, 170; and Mike Teller, 182.

Logan Smith, 160, and Tyler Mason, 195, also won forfeits and both teams forfeited at 106.

Warriors beat Elks

Havre de Grace and visiting Elkton met in a dual meet that had eight forfeits, including five by Havre de Grace. But of the six matches left to be wrestled, the Warriors won five, all by pin, to win the meet, 48-36.

Josh Nuce pinned in 3:25 at 132, while brother Jacob Nuce pinned in 5:58 at 145.

Daniel Peters also pinned at 138 in 4:17, while Nick Scarborough had the quickest fall of the night at 182, needing just 29 seconds. Justin Wolbert added the final pin at 195 in 3:45.

Eagles top Mustangs

In Aberdeen's 48-30 win at C. Milton Wright, the Eagles won eight bouts, seven by pin and one by forfeit.

Billy Morris collected the forfeit at 145, the meet's first bout.

CMW won the next four, but Aberdeen answered with pins from CJ Allen and Adric Turner. Allen pinned Noah Bowers in 5:15 at 195 and Turner stopped Frankie Marzen in 56 seconds at 195.

Marcos Colon-Pappaterra pinned Alex Wienecke in 4:59 at 106 and Dylan Morris followed at 113, pinning Dan Wesdock in 1:42.

The Eagles then closed the meet with three straight pins. Travis Hubler pinned Andrew Wesdock in 42 seconds at 126; Daniel Velez pinned Mike Zito in 5:41 at 132; and Chris Banko pinned Spencer Hellman in 3:30 at 138.

Mike Ritz won 6-2 over Evan Smith at 120 for CMW and Philip Flint won by 1:12 pin at 160 over Dylan Lucas; Mickey Glendon also pinned at 170 in 5:21.

Doug Thier added a 2-0 win over Tyler Fletcher at 182 and the Mustangs won a forfeit at 285.

Cougars beat Panthers

Fallston visited Perryville and won, 48-23. The Cougars won nine bouts and the Panthers forfeited away four.

Among the contested bouts, Colin McDonald won by pin at 106, stopping Joey Carter in 53 seconds.

At 126, Nathan Ferrara won 9-5 over Justin Harreld and at 132, Bryan Jirsa won 6-2 over TC Foster.

Will Shipley pinned John Witkowski in 35 seconds at 138 and Ridge Myers had the other win at 195, pinning Kelly Biddle in 4:54.
