( Wegmans at Box Hill South in Abigdon; Matt Button, The Aegis, 2011 / November 30, 2012 ) Fact: Actually, Wegmans was an original suitor for the property, as recently as 2006, when the Plumtree site was rezoned by the county council to accommodate the grocer. That case wound up in court, however, when another supermarket owner and some residents appealed. As the case dragged on, Wegmans decided to build instead at Box Hill South, also off Route 924, a few miles from the Plumtree site. |
