North Harford swims to pair of wins at Friday meet

The North Harford Hawks raced to a pair of swimming wins on Friday night at a Magnolia Middle tri-meet, edging Bel Air, 97-90, and defeating Joppatowne, 129-56.

Bel Air won its matchup with Joppatowne, 126-52.

All eight of North Harford's individual victories came from four swimmers, who each had a pair of wins. Robby Beichler topped the field in the boys 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Hillary Young picked up wins in the girls 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Regan Davis notched top finishes in the girls 200 medley and 100 breaststroke, while Becky Jump finished first in the girls 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Bel Air had two athletes with a pair of individual wins in Ben Barsam and Macey Nitchie. Barsam won the boys 200 medley and 100 breaststroke, while Nitchie came through with victories in the girls 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Mike Koscinski won the boys 50 freestyle for Bel Air, while teammate James Cousler took first in the boys 500 freestyle. Jake Carter earned Bel Air a win in the boys 100 backstroke.

Joppatowne's Dale Marx swam to a victory in the boys 100 freestyle.

North Harford kicked off the meet with back-to-back wins in the boys and girls 200 medley relays. The boys event was won by the team of Chase Reeves, Nick Fransham, Kevin Snee and Josh Smith, while Young, Jump, Davis and Angelica Carinugan took first in the girls race.

Bel Air's team of Barsam, Carter, Koscinski and Cousler won the boys 200 freestyle relay, while Nitchie, Ellie Harris, Madelynn Dougherty and Lauren St. Pierre earned first place in the girls event.

Bel Air swept the 400 freestyle relays as well, with Carter, Barsam, Cousler and Matthew McPhee winning the boys contest, and St. Pierre, Dougherty, Nitchie and Harris taking first in the girls race.
