With an 8-3 victory over the visiting Harford Tech Cobras on Wednesday, the C. Milton Wright Mustangs put one more in the Chesapeake (upper) Division win column.
CMW came out of the home contest at 10-3 overall, and 6-1 in upper-division games. Harford Tech fell to 4-4 overall, and 2-4 in Chesapeake Division matchups.
CMW's Catherine Kim was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and one steal, while teammate Lauren Hufnam went 2-for-3 with a double and one run. Caroline Weimer was 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI in the victory, and Jenny Lynch went 3-for-4 with one RBI. MacKenzie Fitzgerald knocked home two runs for CMW.
Harford Tech's Alyssa Hockaday went 2-for-3, while fellow Cobra Kaitlyn Vale was 1-for-2.
CMW pitcher Morghan Fulton tossed her third complete game since Monday, striking out four and allowing one earned runs on five hits.
Rams battered twice
The Edgewood Rams were knocked off in both ends of a double-header at Bo Manor on Wednesday, losing the first matchup, 12-1, and the second, 13-0.
Both games were called off after the top of the fifth because of the 10-run mercy rule.
The defeats dropped Edgewood to 1-10 overall, and 1-7 in the Susquehanna (lower) Division.
CMW over North East
The C. Milton Wright Mustangs posted double-digit runs in a Tuesday softball matchup, as the Mustangs defeated visiting North East, 12-3.
The Mustangs scored three times in the bottom of the first, added another five in the fourth, then closed out scoring for the day with a five-run rally in the sixth. North East had two runs in the first and one in the third.
CMW's MacKenzie Fitzgerald went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and scored two additional runs. Hollie Rutkowski helped the winning cause with two singles, a double, two RBIs, one run and one stolen base.
Bel Air edges North Harford
The Bel Air Bobcats (5-4 overall, 3-2 Chesapeake) earned a one-run road victory Tuesday, defeating North Harford, 3-2.
The loss dropped the host-team Hawks to 3-5 overall and 1-4 against Chesapeake opponents.
Bel Air's Taylor Hensley belted an RBI double in the win, while teammate Bailey Gasior had an RBI single. Jen Schofield went 2-for-3 with one run in the victory.
Bobcat pitcher Rayn Gibson went the full seven innings, striking out nine and holding the Hawks to three hits.
