After the high of the Super Bowl, Harford Ravens fans have a chance to keep the excitement going at yet another special Ravens rally this Friday evening in Bel Air.
The hastily-scheduled event, organized again by the Bel Air Downtown Alliance, was originally scheduled to be in the county government parking lot at Churchville Road and Main Street, scene of the pre-Super Bowl rally a week earlier.
With rain and snow showers predicted for Friday night, however, the party is moving indoors to The Dark Horse Saloon on Main Street, Alliance director Scott Walker said.
The rally will run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with familiar features like the Bus Boys, Natty Boh Gear and Tyler Daniel from WXCY.
This time, the event will also benefit the Brigance Brigade Foundation to fight ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), with Dark Horse donating proceeds from the sales toward the foundation, which was started by former Ravens player and front office member O.J. Brigance, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2007, and his wife, Chandra. According to the foundation's website, its mission is "to equip, encourage and empower people living with ALS; we strive to improve the quality of life for them and their families by providing needed equipment, resource guidance and support services, in addition to funding various research initiatives."
A Natty Boh prize raffle will also take place, and the Alliance is partnering with the restaurant on a previously-scheduled autograph event by Ravens tight end Ed Dickson.
Face-painting will also be available for the kids (and perhaps adults), Walker said.
"It's a family-friendly event," he noted, explaining it is "just a way to cap off the rallies we did and have another fun night."
The Alliance originally went to the trouble of getting a liquor license for beer when it anticipated being on the county parking lot, which Walker said will no longer be needed. In addition, the county Board of Estimates approved use of the parking lot at its meeting Thursday morning.
Dark Horse was already scheduled to host tight end Dickson, who will appear at 7 p.m. to sign autographs for Ravens fans.
The cost is $25 for a signature and a ticket is required. Gina Carapico, of Dark Horse, said Thursday afternoon that Dickson is still scheduled to appear; however, linebacker Courtney Upshaw, who had been previously announced for the signing event, is no longer expected.
Tickets can be secured by e-mailing Gina at email@example.com or by calling 443-371-7993.
