Elderly woman in Bel Air rolled over by her own car

A 71-year-old woman was flown to shock trauma after she was run over by her own car at a Bel Air apartment complex Tuesday afternoon, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported.

The woman's car began to drift in the parking lot of the complex, in the 1100 block of Vanguard Way, off of Route 22, at about 3:50 p.m. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cristie Kahler said.

She attempted to stop it when it rolled over her, Kahler said.

The woman was flown by medevac to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore "because of the mechanism of injury and age," Kahler said.

Kahler did not know the extent of the woman's injuries but said the woman was alert while being transported.
