Port City anglers to host Kid's Fishing Festival June 9

Port City Bass Anglers will be sponsoring the 9th annual Kid's Fishing Festival June 9 at Bynum Run Park on Churchville Road in Bel Air.

At this event, junior anglers will participate in a tournament and have a fun day of fishing that will be split into two age groups from 5 years old through 15 years old. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the park entrance. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Members of Port City will assist each youth in the competition. Prizes and trophies will be given out to the youth during and at the end of the event. There will be free food and drinks for all registered participants and their guardians. It's a fun time enjoyed by all and we encourage you to bring your kids out for this free, fun day, a great time well spent with your kids. One lucky child will be selected by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to be entered into the Maryland Fishing Challenge-Youth Component to be held in September.

Last year's event drew more than 100 kids from the area. As many as 280 have come in one day in previous years. In the last eight years, through donations, Port City has been able to supply more than 100 fishing rod/reel combinations as door prizes each year and other awards.

Port City Bass Anglers and the children of the community would appreciate any donations for door prizes, raffles or as other type of fund raiser for the benefit of the Kid's Fishing Festival.

Port City Bass Anglers is a member the Maryland Chapter of the FLW/TBF.

Maryland DNR will assist in getting the pond stocked again this year with a selection of fish for the children to catch, and listed on the DNR web site for the calendar of events. This will be catch and release event.
