Health coverage enrollment event set for Sunday at Bel Air library

"HealthConnectNow!" will be at the Bel Air library, 100 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. to enroll uninsured Marylanders in health coverage through Maryland Health Connection.

The health fair is one in a series of events being held throughout Maryland sponsored by the state's health insurance marketplace to inform individual and families about their health coverage options under the federal Affordable Care Act and help them obtain health coverage before the March 31 deadline for open enrollment.

Maryland Health Connection navigators, as well as insurance carriers and brokers, will be on hand to answer questions and help attendees enroll and see if they qualify for financial assistance that would lower premiums and out-of-pocket costs or Medicaid. Those enrolling in health coverage should bring the following:

• Social Security numbers for them and family members (or document numbers for any legal immigrants who need insurance);

•Employer and income information for everyone in the family (for example, from pay stubs, W-2 forms or wage and tax statements);

•Policy numbers for any current health insurance; and

• Information about any job-related health insurance available to their family.

Other organizations will provide free screenings. The health fair will also feature food and entertainment, as well as demonstrations and information on healthy eating and fitness.

To learn more about the event, to get more information concerning health coverage choices that fit personal needs and family budgets or to receive individual assistance regarding health care enrollment, contact the Health Department's Division of Care Coordination, 410-273-5626, and ask about the Maryland Health Connection.
