Fallston moves on, HdG and Edgewood out in field hockey playoffs

The region field hockey playoffs got under way Tuesday for three Harford County teams. In Class 1A North play, Fallston began its 1A state title defense with an easy 8-0 win over winless Havre de Grace.

Edgewood (3-9), meanwhile, saw its upset bid of Rising Sun fall short in overtime, 3-2, in 2A North action. No further details were available.

In Fallston's win, the Cougars (7-6) led 4-0 at halftime.

Marisa Perfetti led with a pair of goals, while single goals were tallied by Lindsay Summers with assist from Nicole McDiarmid; Bailey Graf, assist from Dana Katzenberger; Katzenberger unassisted; Becky Streett, assist from Alicia King; Jenna Caldwell, assist from Daniel McDiarmid; and Karlie Abbott, unassisted.

The Cougars were to play at top seed Perryville on Thursday.

Harford Tech, Joppatowne, Patterson Mill, Bel Air, North Harford, Aberdeen and C. Milton Wright were also scheduled for play Thursday. Winners will advance to Monday's semifinal round.
