Bel Air edges Fallston, 1-0, in Wednesday field hockey showdown

On Senior Night on Bel Air High School's turf field Wednesday, the host Bobcats did not let the home faithful down, holding on to a one-goal lead through the final whistle to secure a 1-0 victory over Fallston.

The victory pushed Bel Air to 7-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in Chesapeake (upper) Division play. Fallston fell to 5-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 against upper-division opponents.

The game's only goal was scored by Madison Healey, with Meghan Scarry providing the assist.

CMW over Perryville

C. Milton Wright (9-1 overall, 5-1 Chesapeake) kept its hold on the upper division's top spot Wednesday night with a 5-2 victory over visiting Perryville.

The Mustangs, trailing by a goal after Perryville opened scoring with a tally in the first minute of the match, evened things up when Haley Matthai scored off a feed from Jenny Eckert.

Maggie Gallagher scored an unassisted goal for CMW that put the Mustangs up, 2-1.

Matthai scored two more goals in the contest, one unassisted and one with a helper from Sabrina Rhodes.

Rhodes was responsible the Mustangs final tally.

Perryville managed one more goal before the end of regulation time to cut CMW's lead to 5-2, but the visitors got no closer.

CMW goalie Sydney Rhodes had four saves.

Tech over Joppa by one

Harford Tech (8-3 overall, 6-0 Susquehanna) kept its perfect Susquehanna (lower) Division record untouched on Wednesday night, fending off the host-team Joppatowne Mariners (5-6 overall, 3-3 Susquehanna) to take a 1-0 victory.

The game's only goal came in the first half, when Meagan Sturla scored with an assist from Gill Chase.

Harford Tech goalie Hannah Snyder posted three saves.

Joppatowne's Hannah Naddaf came through with 10 saves in goal.

Warriors take second win

The Havre de Grace Warriors tacked another victory to their season total on Wednesday night, knocking off host Elkton, 1-0.

The win, which came a week after the Warriors snapped an 11-season losing streak with a victory over Aberdeen, put Havre de Grace at 2-9 overall for the season and 2-4 in Susquehanna Division contests.

The game's only goal came when Kaitlyn DiGiovanni tucked away a shot after taking a feed from teammate Allison Deal.

Havre de Grace goalie Kateri Peters posted three saves in the win.

North Harford over Hereford

North Harford (5-3 overall, 1-3 Chesapeake) earned a non-UCBAC win over visiting Hereford on Wednesday, beating the Bulls, 2-1.

Hereford went into the halftime break leading 1-0.

In the second half, Juliet Dolinar scored the equalizer with an assist from Sarah Jackson. The game-winning goal came off a shot from Shannon Mansberger, with Hannah Kehring providing the assist.

Jess Hart posted three saves in goal for the Hawks.

Patterson Mill wins on penalty strokes

The Patterson Mill Huskies (5-3-1 overall, 3-2-1 Chesapeake) went to penalty strokes on Wednesday in a game against visiting North East and came out top to earn a 3-2 win.

Regulation time ended with the score tied, 2-2. Through two periods of sudden-death overtime, neither team could score, so the game moved to penalty strokes.

Converting from the penalty line for the Huskies were Linnea Gonzalez, Ksenia Greenwell and Mariel Castronova. North East converted only one of its shots, allowing the hosts to walk away with the win.

Gonzalez scored an unassisted goal in regulation time, while teammate Maria Mazariegos had the Huskies' second tally, which was assisted by Hailey Horton.
